EAA 790 Ambassadors at Oshkosh '97

At the Oshkosh convention, 790 members served as Ambassadors in the EAA Action Pavilion. Fifty chapter members volunteered to staff the Pavilion. We acted in a varied number of roles during the convention. We escorted Chuck Yeager and Bob Hoover to their speaking engagements, answered questions about the EAA, gave away money and occasionally reunited a child with their lost parent. All who volunteered enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to expanded responsibilities next year.

Young Eagles Rally Scheduled

The chapter will host a Young Eagles Rally at Lake in the Hills airport (3CK) at 10:00 AM on Sunday September 7. Weather permitting, we will fly as many youngsters as possible. We're hoping for good weather as our last two events have been plagued by less then ideal conditions. A follow-up event has been scheduled for October 18. October has traditionally been a good month for Young Eagle Rallies. Last October, we flew 113 youngsters.

Chapter Picnic Scheduled

The chapter picnic is scheduled for Sunday 9/14 at 11:00 AM. Bill Rose will be hosting the event at his home in South Barrington again this year. Everyone should bring a dish to pass and their own choice of meats for grilling. Additionally, if you have a portable grill, please bring it along.

Julie Savage Selected for EAA Scholarship

Chapter member and board member Julie Savage was selected as a recipient of an EAA Scholarship. It has been a busy summer for Julie as she passed her Private Pilot checkride in July as well. Needless to say, the chapter is proud of her accomplishments and we wish her success as she begins her aviation studies at Southern Illinois University.
