Professional therapeutic massage has many wonderful benefits
to the mind, body, and spirit. Which modality of massage therapy that would
be the best for you depends on what your personal needs are.
Swedish Massage - Relaxation &
Personal Healing for the Mind, Body, & Spirit
Swedish massage is an unbelievable experience for your
body, mind, and spirit. By the end of your first session, you may almost
feel as if you are floating (if you haven't drifted off peacefully to sleep).
It promotes relaxation, circulation, increases joint range of motion, and
aids in the removal of wastes that accumulate in the tissues of the body,
as well as many other benefits for the body and mind. You may sleep better,
feel more relaxed and less stressed, and feel less sore from athletic activity,
among the myriad of other wonderful after effects of regular massage care.
Swedish massage utilizes long, flowing strokes with the
hands and forearms of the bodywork practitioner. Other strokes that may
be included in your massage will be used to help you achieve/maintain optimal
muscle tone and joint range of motion.
Over all what you will notice during your massage, is
that this time is just for you. You don't have to do anything, think
about anything or fulfill any expectations. The most important things during
this time is your mind, body, & spirit's peace.
After your initial session, regular massage sessions are
highly recommended between the time frames of every two weeks up to once
per month for personal maintenance. YOU should be the most important thing
you take care of. Learn to let go and find yourself again.
Recommendations:
If you have never had professional bodywork before: a one hour
Swedish massage is a good place to start.
If you have had a massage therapy session before: If has been awhile
since you have had bodywork, you lead a sedentary or athletic lifestyle
or if you feel like you really need a massage, a 1 1/2 hour
Swedish massage is the best recommendation. In short, the body is a much
larger territory than you could really believe. It takes time to relax
your mind and body enough to get down to doing some good therapeutic work
that benefits you the most.
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy - For the
relief of pain, muscle tension, and soreness within the body.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a form of focused massage
therapy. Usually only several areas (or just one area) will be worked during
a session. Time ranges for a NMT session are from one to two hours.
How many sessions will it take? That really depends on
you and your body. Most conditions can not be cleared up in just
one session as NMT seeks to alleviate the source of your pain problem,
not just the symptoms! Many painful problems have been accumulating
for quite some time (possibly even years) before they actually show themselves
as 'pain'.
A Few Conditions That Have Responded Well to NMT:
Headaches
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)
Repetitive Motion Disorders
TMJ Disorders
Sciatica
Scoliosis
Postural Problems
Chronic Pain
Chronic Muscle Tension
Back Pain
Myofascial Pain Syndromes
& Much More...
I have personally seen results from working with scar tissue
as well [both surgical (1 year post-op) & non-surgical]. You do not
have to have an already diagnosed medical condition to utilize NMT, however
I do readily accept physician referrals.
For maintenance after we have gotten things under control,
a regular session is recommended in the time frames of once every two weeks
up to once per month. The client education that you shall receive will
also help you to determine what is best for you regarding this matter.
