Music in the Air
Who is Schoenberg ?

Arnold Franz Walter Schoenberg was born in Vienna, Austria, on Sept. 13, 1874, and died in Los Angeles on July 13, 1951.

He was not a born musician or composer. When he was 21 years old, his music career started. In 1908, Schoenberg began to establish the 12 tone music and composed some remarkable pieces. Then the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin invited him as a professor.
As a Jewish descendant he had to move to another place from Europe. He found the place for live in the United States and worked at the University of California in Los Angeles.

His own works are seldom performed, but now many musicians are applying his 12 tone theory for their music creation.

Some of his major works are :
Transfigured Night; string sextet (1899)
Three Piano Pieces (1909)
Six Little Piano Pieces (1911)
Pierrot Lunaire; 21 recitations with chamber accompaniment (1912)
Suite for Piano (1924)
