THE CHURCH

A. Higher education estranged the educated Negro from the masses and it is most striking in the churches. Pg. 52

B. The people the church has helped develope do little to help develope the institution. They have deserted the church to exploiters, grafters (parasites) and libertines. Pg. 53

C. The gap between the masses and the “talented tenth” is rapidly widening. The "educated" Negro say they go to churches with a more intellectual atmosphere. Pg. 54

D. The churches they go to are ritualistic and don’t touch the masses. The ritualistic churches are also segregated. Pg. 55

E. Although the “highly educated” Negroes in D.C. area have multiplied, the masses are almost just as backwards as they were in 1880 i.e., the masses of Negroes in the church have conduct that could hardly be equaled in the jungle. Pg. 56

F. This shows results of how the educated Negro has left the masses.
Compare them to the whites. Pg. 57

G. Although the Negro church is the only institution the race controls, the Negro has not developed it. The Negro church is dominated by the thoughts of the white (oppressor’s) race. Pg. 57

H. The Negro embraces almost everything religious that comes along and does not think for himself. Pg. 58

I. Theologians share some of the blame. They have confused the world with disputes, thus dividing the churches even more. Pg. 60

J. Theologians have justified most of the ills of the ages. They justify the Inquisition, serfdom and slavery. Pg. 60

K. The Negro has been purposely taught to quarrel and fight about trifles until their enemies can overcome them. Pg. 61
