Our family is descended from John King, who lived in Prince Georges County, MD in the mid-1700's.

My KING family page has information on the Kings in Maryland, up to my father, James F. King. You may read the gedcom online or save it as a text document.

My PROUT Family page contains information about the Prouts of southern Maryland, mainly in Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties. But it's a long and varied history, with many broken links -- and even a witch! So peruse at your leisure. Again, the gedcom may be read online or saved as a text file.

If you are researching Maryland families, a great source is the Maryland State Archives, or Hall of Records in Annapolis. You may want to try the MD archive web site. Although there are no searchable records online, it has information about requesting birth and death records, marriages, and what they charge to search for one hour. ($20!)

The absolute best and most comprehensive source of genealogy sites on-line is Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet.

The MD Genweb Project is part of a national effort to transcribe public domain records including
U.S. Census Schedules, Tax Lists, Passenger Lists, Birth/Marriage/and Death records and
upload them to one central location so that researchers of all levels would have access to them. It's still growing, but check it out and participate.
