A note from Russ Weston, President of Ranchero Enthusiasts…
The status of "The Ranchero Club" (since 1982) is “restored”. Gene Makrancy was unable to keep the club going with his other time commitments. Gene called me in Oct. 2000 and asked if I wanted to see the club "die"; when I told him “no,” he said “Great, I'll send you the materials on hand.” Gene is willing to continue helping out, as he is able. He called me because my wife and I have been active in an informal group "Washington State Ranchero Enthusiasts" (WSRE).
WSRE has a mailing list of 300 and has been active since 1992. I've corresponded with other WSRE members and looked at options. There could be problems using the name "The Ranchero Club," and being that none of us are lawyers, we chose a takeoff from WSRE and named it Ranchero Enthusiasts.
We have successfully obtained Washington State non-profit status and a federal tax id for “Ranchero Enthusiasts”, (an international organization).
Gene has been forwarding letters and applications to us since December 2000, so this is a generic letter to answer your questions. On May 23, 2001 Gene gave us permission to use copyright materials from “The Ranchero Club”. Now we may reprint the data from newsletters Gene published!
We started newsletters in September 2002 and have done quarterlies since. The June/summer newsletters include a roster to encourage local networking. We can provide lists of other owners in your area or by vehicle model upon request.
Your name has been added to our mailing list; if you have an email address, please send an email note to russweston@juno.com. If you have a club number please use it on correspondence.
What articles would be beneficial for you? Member articles from you are really welcome! Need a list of Enthusiasts in your area, for a specific model or engine—just ask.
