I've been a Mopar fan for over ten years now. This '69 Dart GT is my first Mopar, but we've had many over the years. I love to show my car and race it occassionally (Seattle International Raceway), but most of all I love to just drive it.
This is me and my car, this was taken on a very cold and windy day.
If you are from Seattle, you'll recognize this
as Harbor Avenue (downtown Seattle in the background, you can see the Kingdome
to the right).
Any questions about my screen name are probably answered now!! Believe it or not, many people don't know what my license plate says.
In the eight years I've had this car, we've
done many things to it. When I got the car, the driver's side quarter panel
was a few inches shorter than it was supposed to be, the passenger side was
like a roller coaster, the paint was a $100 dollar job, the interior was
out of a '72 Dart cop car, the carpet had the usual holes in the footwells,
and various other little things wrong with the car had to be fixed. We managed
to get ahold of the original bucket seats, find a back seat and reupholstered
them ourselves (what a job!), thanks to Year One and Legendary we were able
to restore the interior to original. The interior was originally dark green
(yuck!) so restoring it gave us the opportunity to convert it to black, much
better! The vinyl top was originally green also, and has since been replaced
with a black one.
The 318 that originally came with the car had 175,000 miles on it, so we
decided that putting in a 360 would be a better idea! What an improvement!
The 360 has been rebuilt using moly-coated rings, high-volume oil pump, Purple
Shaft cam (268/272), 360 heads with 2.02 valves, and 340 exhaust. Some of
the goodies we added are the new black MP valve covers, a stock 340 chrome
air cleaner, electronic ignition, and a brand new polished Carter 600cfm
AFB. The few times I've raced this car it did 14.7. We have a major traction
problem though. The rear gears are 3.55's in an 8 3/4, the wheels are 14
x 5.5 front, 14 x 7 rear with BF Goodrich 235/60/14's on the rear. With nearly
214,000 miles, this car is a work in progress, but I love it!
During this last year, I haven't had the opportunity
to drive my Dart much, but, during one of the rare chances I got, it got
hit, wiping out the driver's side quarter panel. I just about lost my mind
when I got hit! To make matters worse, it was the second car accident in
a month, the first one I was partially responsible for and ended up totalling
my '88 LeBaron. Now, I have a new quarter panel lined up and will be getting
it repaired very soon. These days I let my '79 RamCharger take the brunt
of my abuse for my day to day activities and my business needs. I am a whitewater
rafting guide from May to September and this winter I am teaching skiing
to disabled people. Because of my whitewater activities, I don't get to the
car related events as much as I used to, but, I hope to be able to atleast
maintain my Dart in the condition that it was in during these pictures.
This '76 Feather Duster is the newest addition to our Mopar family. This
car has a black interior with bucket seats and hurst floor shift. The Feather
Dusters and Dart Lite were very unique cars, they only weighed around 2900
lbs! These cars were created during the gas shortage and were Chryslers'
way of getting around the EPA regulations this year. The Feather Dusters'
most unique features are the 225 slant six, the aluminum 4 speed overdrive
and aluminum hood with sheet steel reinforcements. This car is just screaming
for a big block!!
In addition to the cars pictured here, we also
have a '66 Barracuda Formula "S", which will be getting a 360 eventually,
and a '76 Aspen R/T that we are selling for $200 (great parts car or complete
resto project)! .
