PLOT SYNOPSIS

"Comedy legend Red Skelton is Joe Reynolds, an air-headed pants-presser and stage-door Johnny who 'borrows' expensive suits from customers , hoping to impress his dream girl, Broadway star Constance Shaw (Eleanor Powell). But the ruse works a little too well, and an incredulous Joe finds himself hitched to the freshly jilted Constance. Red's head-over-heels in love, but how can he keep her once she's hip to his lowly status?"
- Liner Notes from MGM/Turner Videotape

NOTES

"A frantic potboiler, it wasted Powell in a couple of indifferent Bobby Connolly-staged dance routines, both of which were shot before director Vincente Minnelli began work on the film, and which, contrary to his wishes, were retained by producer Jack Cummings."
- Clive Hirschhorn, The Hollywood Musical

"Red Skelton's best movie musical. It's a lavish MGM production with a comedy-of-errors story. . ."
- Pauline Kael, 5001 Nights At The Movies
