Brian Hyland & Chris Woodard
CELTIMORPHOSIS
Celtimorphosis is a musical duo including Brian Hyland, of Binghamton, N.Y. and Chris Woodard, of Ithaca, N.Y. The two are brothers-in-law who have performed together professionally since 1992. They produced the soundtrack to the Emmy-nominated Hellmira 1864-1865: The Andersonville of the North. This led to their critically acclaimed first album on the Orchard Park label, Celtimorphosis, and two cuts recorded for Orchard Park's holiday album Christmas Traditions.
WHAT IS CELTIMORPHOSIS?
The group coined this expression to describe their approach to music: first by playing traditional Celtic melodies against a non-traditional, modern jazz chord structure. Alternatively, it means the playing of non-traditional music on Celtic instruments which impart a Celtic flavor to the music.
WHO ARE CELTIMORPHOSIS?
Brian Hyland - self-taught Irish American musician who plays Anglo concertina, English concertina, pennywhistle, bamboo flute, accordion, bodhrán, and bones. Brian is a veteran of several Irish bands performing throughout Upstate New York.
Chris Woodard - former Nashville songwriter, educated at Ithaca College, plays steel and nylon string guitars, classical guitar, mandolin, and keyboards. Chris teaches guitar and composes music in his Ithaca home.
