To be eligible for the Order of the Arrow you must be a First Class Scout and have attended summer camp. The Order of the Arrow is a national brotherhood of Scout campers. The boys in the troop are elected every year by their peers. The troop elects you for your camping ability and Scouting spirit. After the boy attends the Ordeal weekend they become members of a Lodge. Troop 23 belongs to ShuShu Gah Lodge #24 which represents scouts from Brooklyn. Purpose of the Order of the Arrow: To recognize those campers-Scouts annd Scouters- who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause other campers to conduct themselves in such a manner as to warrant recognition. To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit. To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful sevice to others.
Principles of the Order: The Order of the Arrow was founded on the principles of brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service.
