Notes: Absolute masterpiece were the first words that my wife spoke when she saw this rug. The pictures do not come close to what the real piece looks like. This is a one of the finest high end rugs I have ever offered and it is a very valuable piece. The entire foundation is made of silk and gold-metal only and most of the pile is made of pure silk as well. If you look at the pictures, you will see the yellow areas, which are all left exposed to show off the metal/silk foundation. Please keep in mind that the pile only covers about 50% of the actual rug and it is designed to be a showpiece of a formal room or even hang on a wall. I have several other rugs made with a metal foundation, but this one is the largest and finest I have ever seen. In quality and value, it's very similar to the pure silk Qom rugs and it's just amazing. Most of the detailed artwork is made of pure silk and colors are very vibrant and ellegant. If you are looking for a large high end rug and want something that is absolutely unique, then this is one such piece. Feel free to shop around and see just how rare this piece is and the price is also much less that would you would expect to pay for more common pure silk rugs. The weaver who made this piece also made other pieces for me and I was able to purchase this one at a great price which is how I could a piece like this. Typically, I would have had to spend well over $10000 just to purchase it and Tabriz rugs like this one are so valuable that they are simply too expensive. I saw a 7x10 like it once at a Persian rug convention and it was sold for the same price as this one even though it was half the size.
