About Michael Wright

Michael P. Wright was graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in political science and MA in sociology. His professional record includes research in a variety of areas including health science, energy economics, American Indian history, and computer software development for health risk assessment. He has on several occasions appeared before Oklahoma legislative committees in the capacity of expert witness. Wright has also been the recipient of four federal grants from the Small Business Innovation Research program of the US Public Health Service. Two of these grants supported the development and testing of software providing personal anonymous risk assessment for current HIV infection. In this capacity part of his tasks included study of diagnostic error.

Wright is listed in the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, published by Marquis, and the 17th edition of the British directory Men of Achievement. He has been published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (Sept/Oct. 1997), the Journal of the American Medical Association (letter, Mar 24/31, 1993), and AIDS Education and Prevention (fall 1991). Additionally, his work has been presented in the proceedings of the Oklahoma Symposium on Artificial Intelligence (November 1993, Oklahoma State University), and he has been a guest opinion writer for the San Francisco Chronicle (May 24, 2000).

Wright entered the University of Oklahoma in the fall of 1965 with the honor of having been selected as a University Scholar. Freshmen designated for this are chosen to compete for it on the basis of high ACT scores followed by another competitive exam and then an interview. He also is listed in the 1969 commencement bulletin as the Outstanding Senior in Political Science. As a graduate student Wright enjoyed the additional honor of being named an intern in the Oklahoma State Regents student intern program.

The AIDS Education and Prevention article reported the findings of a pilot study conducted before my grants were funded. The Phase I SBIR project for HIV risk assessment software included a larger number of research subjects, and its findings were presented at the Oklahoma Symposium on Artificial Intelligence.

About Who’s Who

Some who disagree with my writing have tried to discredit me by falsely accusing me of paying for my Who’s Who listing. While there are some scam directories which charge people for listings, one does not buy a listing in a Marquis Who’s Who directory. Marquis is the publisher of the original Who’s Who in America and their directories are commonly found in public libraries.

Note: If you are associated with an organization or agency interested in acquiring use of health risk assessment computer software, please see my announcement about consultant service for assistance in making decisions about available products.
