The Case for Christ
by Lee Strobel

(Submitted by Marie Schatzman)

Written by a former Chicago Tribune legal affairs journalist, The Case for Christ researches external evidence that Jesus is the Christ. In proving his point about Christ, he provides excellent documentation that the Bible is God's word. In the quest, he covers such categories as eyewitness evidence, scientific evidence, psychological evidence, circumstantial evidence, and fingerprint evidence.

The book, written in the first person narrative style, reads like a novel, keeping the reader aware of the human element of personalities and temperament. Mr. Strobel asks the questions a tough-minded skeptic would ask and provides convincing answers. This book provides the historical basis for Christianity.

The author's Introduction offers good information about himself, his purpose, and aim in authoring the book. Each chapter starts with a story from the newspaper headlines that leads into the theme of that chapter.

This is a unique and interesting book.

The Daily Bible
(In Chronological Order, 365 Daily Readings)

Commentary by F. LaGard Smith:
"The Daily Bible is neither a retranslation nor a paraphrase. The central text is composed entirely of Scripture, using the widely acclaimed New International Version."--F. LaGard Smith

Have you ever wondered where the writings of the prophets fit into the history of the people of Israel? Or tried to harmonize the four Gospels for easy comparison and a totally integrated account of the life of Jesus? The Daily Bible sorts this out for us and presents the Scriptures in chronological order. As the events unfold before us, Smith leads us from one passage to another with informative, interesting narrative that sets the scene for what we are about to read.

The Daily Bible is available in paperback for $16.79 (list price is $19.99) from Pistos Books and Supplies. Call 402-331-9797 to order or visit their website at: http://www.pistos.com.

Editor's note: The Daily Bible has helped me become more focused in my Bible study. Smith's comments at the beginning of each reading help me be more attentive to the selection that follows. I recently gave copies to my husband and teenage son. This has led to a discussion during dinner of our thoughts on the day's reading.
