The book signing was a once in a lifetime thrill for those who attended.
For me it meant meeting Michael face to face for the first time. I
was nervous, I was scared to death, what would I say - what would he say?
I might of chickened out but I had made a promise to all the fans who
had sent personal messages to Michael - cowardice was not an option this
day.
Luckily I had brought close friends for reinforcement and morale support,
not to mention the fact I knew that I would need them to recount the days
events when they were over. I knew I would not have a clear cut memory
of them for weeks to come.
Not only was this day special because of the in person meeting with Michael,
but also because I would also be meeting for the first time several fellow
fans with whom I had been corresponding over the past several months. Some
lived local, some flew in from out of state just for the event.
About 150 people in all attended the event, most clutched their newly
purchased copy of Burning in Paradise, others had brought magazines containing
articles about Michael, many brought posters and other memorabilia from Reservoir
Dogs. All waited patiently in line for their turn to present their
items for Michael's signature.
Knowing me as I do, I had enough presence of mind to ask a fellow fan
to write an eyewitness account of this great day for the web site and she
agreed on condition that she remain anonymous. She is shy I guess!
I agreed just click on the eyewitness account link below to read
her full account.
