This photo of the transit of the International Space Station was taken on April 11, 2003 at 01:31:31 UT from South Bend, Indiana.  The exact geographical coordinates for the site are 41.688944 N, 86.199566 W.

The image was obtained using a 6-inch f/4.9 Newtonian reflector and an Olympus C4000Z digital camera.  The original image was obtained as a short movie clip in the .mov (Quicktime) format and then edited to grab individual frames.  This frame was then edited with Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop to bring out detail in the ISS image.

At the time of this image the ISS was approximately 420 kilometers from my observing site.  Heavens-above.com and Skymap were used to predict the transit and determine the exact location where the transit would be visible.
