Using your assigned topic, you will research on the internet to find information. Use the links on this site to explore your subject; you can click on your topic and the pictures to the left to find great sites! Take notes as you search the web. When you feel that you have enough information, you may begin creating your final product. That may be a power point presentation, a poster display with drawings and facts, a skit or mock interview to be performed for the class, or a basic report or presentation using at least one visual aid. You will also be required to make up five questions for the class to answer about your final product. Just as other students will answer questions based on your project, you will respond to their questions. You will be graded on your behavior during research, the quality of your final product and the accompanying five questions, and your responses to the questions of other groups.
Project Topics:
1. Explore the history of the Yukon Gold Rush. Find out who, what, when, where, and why! Find more history here and here.
2. Research Jack London's life and times. Include information about the actual experiences that could have been used as a basis for The Call of the Wild. Try clicking here, here, or here for more Jack London stuff!
3. Look into the area known as the Yukon. Tell about the people, landscape, animal and plant life, and weather. How do the conditions impact life in the region? Try to click here, here, here, or here for new sites!
4. Find out about the Northern Lights. How, when, why, and where do they happen? What do they look like? Try clicking here, here, or here for additional sites!

6. Find out what a gold rusher would take on a trip to the Yukon. Think about food, clothing, tools, supplies, and animals. What might it cost to gather all the required supplies? Explain why these items were necessary how they might have been used. Take a look at list one, list two, and list three for more ideas.
7. Read about actual participants in the Yukon Gold Rush. Provide anecdotes about what stampeders experienced; discuss good times, hardships, entertainment, and contact with home. Research women of the gold rush here.

Project Requirements
Your power point presentation will be graded according to the following:
1. It is attractive and creative.
2. You make use of "special effects" on at least one slide.
3. It has at least ten pictures.
4. It has at least fifteen facts. Picture captions count as facts.
5. The information is complete, accurate, and interesting.
6. It is clearly explained to the class.
7. You write five questions for the class to answer.
8. You include a bibliography slide citing all sources you used.
Your poster display will be graded according to the following:
1. It is attractive and creative.
2. It is neat and easy to read.
3. It has at least ten drawings or pictures.
4. It has at least fifteen facts. Picture captions count as facts.
5. The information is complete, accurate, and interesting.
