  In the Peak District is Buxton the Spa Town and many stately homes nearby, i.e. Chatsworth the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and Haddon Hall the Derbyshire Seat of the Duke of Rutland.

  In Cheshire you can visit Lyme Park, where the recent outdoor scenes of Pride and Prejudice were filmed by the BBC. Styal Mill and Country Park is Europe’s largest working textile museum and is well worth a visit, and there are many more attractions and Stately Homes too numerous to mention.

  The City of Manchester has many theatres, good restaurants, large stores and tourist attractions such as the Granada Studios Tour which are all worth visiting.

Directions by road: leave the M60 at junction 27 (formerly M63 junction 13). Take the A626 to Marple, leave Marple on the B6101 towards New Mills. Approximately ¾ mile out of Marple, turn right up a slip road and Sinclair Lodge is the end bungalow through the gate. If you reach "The Sportsman" pub then you have missed the slip road by nearly ½ mile - turn around and retrace your steps looking for the "Sinclair Lodge" sign in the garden on the left, the slip road is then a few yards further on the left.
