| You are invited to participate in a World Wide Welshie Quilt to celebrate Welsh Springers and to raise money to support ongoing research to find the epilepsy genes. April Davis will be crafting the Quilt using 5” squares with stitched and photo-transferred images of our Welsh Springers. The Quilt will be completed by 2002 for display and a WWW raffle. |

| Quilting pieces will be 5 1/2” square white fabric with the Welsh Springer image covering up to 5” X 5”. The image on the squares may be done with embroidery, cross-stitching, quilting or photo transfer. For continuity in the final Quilt, we require the fabric pieces to be bought from the Quilt committee. The only exception will be for counted cross-stitch; these should be done on ecru colored cross stitch fabric. For Quilt continuity we will do all photo transfers onto fabric squares. You may submit photographs, logos, drawn pictures (anything that will look okay on a fabric square). Your pictures may be sent via email or by snail mail. Please be very specific with any cropping instructions. Otherwise we will crop the photo as we think best. Note that fine detail will be lost in the fabric transfer process. If you need assistance, Mary Mandich, Colleen O’Keefe, or April Davis will be happy to help you present the best square possible. The only allowed text is the dog’s call name (except as noted below), kennel name, and/or your name. We suggest you keep the text to a minimum since it will reduce the size of the image on the square. The cost per square will be US$25 for a scanned picture, including the scanning and US$20 for a square that is appliqued, embroidered or done by counted cross-stitch. All squares must be prepaid. If you are using a method besides a scanned picture the “blank” square fabric will be mailed back to you upon receipt of the payment. Please: at most 4 squares per person. The Quilt is dedicated to Welsh Springers who have epilepsy or have died of it. The Quilt will honor these dogs by including the word “For” with their image. Upon request, the registered name and titles may be included on the square. These are the only dogs that will be allowed to have either titles or registered names used. The cost for each of these memorial squares is just $10. Payment for out of country participants and any one who wishes to pay by credit card may be made through PayPal (see www.fgi.net/~cok13/paypal.htm for more information). June 1, 2001 DEADLINE: all completed squares and/or pictures must be sent to Mary Mandich by this date so that the quilting can begin! Raffle tickets for the finished quilt will be sold for $5.00 each; the drawing will be held at the 2002 National Specialty in Georgia. If the winner is not present the winner will be responsible for the exact cost of mailing the quilt to them. All proceeds will be applied to the Welsh Springer Spaniel epilepsy study. |
