Weekly Update January 21, 2000

"Ii" is definitely a more challenging letter to learn. Those vowel sounds can be tricky because they are so close in sound. Now that it has been introduced we can continue to reinforce it in different ways. Besides learning about "Ii" we also read "The Mitten," sequenced the story, created a story map and built patterns using mittens (AB, ABB, AAB, etc.). We also got to write in our math journals for the first time as we walked around our room looking for ways we use numbers.

It is so exciting to hear your kids read! It's even more exciting to see their love and joy for it.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!
