This is the first update to my Rover Page since October 1996 when I posted the "Blue Brick Rover Page".
Since that time, my '67 (probably '68) Series IIa , right hand drive Rover has been through a few changes
as well as a few adventures.

There are a LOT of Land Rover sites out here in the cyberworld.  Most are run by people far more energetic, knowledgeable
about Land-Rovers, cyber-savvy,  and mechanically adept than I.  However, I am clever enough to link to their sites
and update my links so that you can all benefit from their hard work.   Links can be found here.

Finally, here are a few pictorials of my Rover at Work and Play.  There is also some cool Land Rover pictures there too.

The Story of the Blue Brick Continues...

Since 1996, Brick has ceased to exist in the form seen at the old webpageFirst, came the full hardtop version.  I replaced window channels and painted the hardtop sides Marine Blue (a Rover original color) and the top limestone (also a Rover original color).  The full length roof rack was bolted on (the feet on the rack had pre-drilled holes) and the truck looked great.  Really great. Only problems were:
1.  Steering got a bit dicey at freeway speeds
2.  Parking in Parking garages was almost impossible (too high)

After dealing with these 2 minor (but annoying) problems, I swapped a spare hardtop and door for a pickup top.

The Pickup top is great.  It has the distinct advantages of:
1.  Much better heat retention (I have the small round Smiths type)
2.  Better noise reduction than the hardtop (but still noisier than soft top)
3.  I'm able to leave the rollbar in the back.  The rollbar is slightly too tall for the hardtop.--custom job
4.  The pick up top is just plain cool.

When the pickup top went on, I did a few other additions.
FIRST:  I had rebuilt a SIII engine (machine shop done)
SECOND:  I personally rebuilt a SIIa transmission (gearbox and transfer box)
THIRD:  I bought a Santana Overdrive

Click here to read why I accumulated this stuff.

After installing a rebuilt engine (8:1 head, 0.03 oversized pistons, 43 amp Delco Alternator), rebuilt SIIa transmission (Suffix B)--now with a SIII transfer box ( Click here to get the hilarious story behind this!) and Overdrive, the Brick was NOT the Brick of old--in fact, it drove like an entirely different vehicle with a completely different personality.

Hence, the truck's renaming to the Blue Badger
