I can’t take
credit for this one. While my wife and I were working on fencing on a part
of the farm where the brush is still pretty thick, my wife spotted this
dainty young lady climbing on the back of my truck. Luckily, she
had her macro lens (my wife that is) and she captured the preying mantis
on film.
My wife and I continued working on
fencing for several hours, until dark. Despite being exhausted, we
loaded up the Rover with the chainsaw, hammers, prybar and nails and we
drove back up to the house through the brush. The next morning, we
went out to the Rover to head back to the worksite when we saw this equally
unbelievable shot…
The preying mantis had moved, over night, from the left rear panel (climbing up the Land-Rover badge) to the right front wing and was delicately eating the Cicada seen here. YUM!!! |
