This is the end product of my many months of work.
This is my 88" Series IIa when it
was towed home. Despite being titled as a 1967 model, I believe this is
a 1968 model. It is negative earth, so at the very least it is a late 1967.
After determining that it was running
well, I decided to perform a frame-over.
These pictures show the various stages in the restoration. The first shows the rear axle before sanding and painting. The middle shows the dashpanel with its rusted out and previously patched foot wells. All body panels, windscreen and seats have been removed. The third picture shows the engine after it has been moved to the new galvinized frame. It is in the process of being cleaned and inspected.
This is looking at the rear of the driver's side (right
hand side) of the seat box from the rear of the truck (tub removed). This
little fellow had taken up residence in the truck at some point in time.
However, it is now back together and on the road. The following is a list of all which was done: New Frame and Suspension, All New Wiring Harness, New Steering Box, New Brake System from the Master Cylinder to the Wheel Cylinders, Drums and Shoes, Repaired Transmission Brake, Replaced Front and Rear Wheel Bearings, New Exhaust System, New Left Front Fender, New Door Tops and Bottoms, Replaced Footwells, Repaired the floor of the Tub, New Gasoline Tank, New Rollcage, Sandblasted and Painted Bulkhead, Repainted Body Panels, Regalvinized the trim and Windscreen, New Front Turn Indicators and Side Lights, Repaired Seatbox and Front Grill, New Voltage Regulator and Generator and Replaced Seatbelts A Special Thanks to Rovers North (Charlie and Lanny), Chris Stevens
and the Land-Rover-Owners Mailing List for all their help.
