The Secret of the Old Clock

The Secret of the Old Clock debuted in 1930 along with The Hidden Staircase and The Bungalow Mystery. Since that time the original series has produced 157 books, a spin-off Files series, an On Campus Series, and a Nancy Drew Notebooks series as well as associated books, movies, TV shows, and collectibles. Associated with this volume is a special collector's volume--digest paperback #100, A Secret in Time where Nancy is again involved in a mystery surrounding the antique Crowley clock.

In 1959, the original text was revised and re-issued as the 1959 text. Harriet Stratemeyer Adams took on the lengthy task of revising the first 34 volumes to the series. When revising, she updated the story--giving Nancy a Mustang convertible rather than the original snappy roadster from the 1930's, Nancy aged from 16 to 18, and Hannah Gruen became more of a part of the Drew family. Racial, ethnic, and gender stereotypes were also removed.
