The NAWCC BULLETIN Index

interested souls have been here to date. This document is a word-processor adapted version of the Index to the issues (1944 to 1998) of the BULLETIN, the house organ of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc. I hope you find it simple to use, and of use in your research. Only members of the NAWCC receive the BULLETIN.

This adaptation is not intended as competition for the 'officially' posted copy of the Index. It is merely simpler to use (this adapted Index is in a word-processor format, vice ASCII or HTML text), downloads much more quickly (it's smaller), is a bit more accurate as to page numbers and various spellings, and the locator data (see Understanding the Index Format first) is by comparison, easily readable. It is also usable when the NAWCC server is not responding.

NAWCC Membership Information is available from the Association's Web site.

Some of these files are compressed with Stuffit. They have to be expanded with Stuffit. Before you download any files with a .sit suffix, go to Aladdin Systems, Inc.'s Web Site and download Stuffit for your computer. Regardless of your computer platform, you will need an expander program,
The Macintosh Version of Stuffit.
The IBM Compatible Version (Windows 3.1, 95, 98, and DOS).

I recommend that you get Stuffit regardless of your computer platform. It is far more talented than any of the other available (see * below) compression/ decompression programs. It's free, to boot.

The Bulletin Index
The complete Index, even though it's compressed, is just over 1 MB, so it may take a few minutes to download. It will expand to over 4 MB.

Download: The complete Index, (Stuffit version) through 1999.

Download:The complete Index (Zipped version) through 1999.

Update 1999: If anyone wants the 1999 additions for those who already have the Computer Index through the end of 1998 I can post them. It would seem to be easier to download the entire file, rather than to have to merge and sort the additions.

These archives are in Microsoft Word 4.0 RTF (Rich Text Format) simply because of the ubiquity of Microsoft word processors, and that the majority of word processors recognize RTF files. The ASCII text format does not retain the formatting data of the original document--tab stops, etc.--therefore I chose this particular format.

For a short, and to the point, explanation of "How to Read the Index", go to "Reading the Index".

For some help in expanding and decoding the files, go to Processing the files.

Updated 16 December, 1999. Should you have any questions, or discover errors, please e-mail me. I would remind the user that many apparent 'errors' in the Index text were generated by the authors of articles, and were entered into the Index as is.

Not free. The program allows opening of Macintosh formats on a PC and vice versa. I use it, and can recommend it--very talented.
