Welcome to the Walt Bibinger Web Site

This is the official Walt Bibinger web site. The primary purpose of this site is to provide information relating to Walt's biography, venues, recording samples, tributes and a background scrapbook of memorabilia. As future engagements are booked we will update the venue section in order to provide you with a current schedule of his gigs. It might be a good idea to add this page to your favorites list.

One of the features of this site will be the ability to download samples of Walt's music and hear for yourself what his music about. The designers of this site are currently developing samples of Walt's work in the MP3 file format.  This is a major step forward in developing a closer connection between the listener and artist. For more information regarding MP3 we suggest you visit:  http://www.mp3.com or Walt's download page.

If you wish to hear samples of Walt's work simply contact us by e-mail and we will forward you a sample.  The sample will be sent to you via e-mail as an attachment.  Samples currently require an MP3 play to be heard. If you request it, we can e-mail you a free player.

A Note from the Publishers -

This site was created and is currently maintained by individuals who love jazz, especially jazz guitar. We've known Walt for a relatively short time, but in that time he's changed our lives.

When we moved to Eastern Pennsylvania over 10 years ago, we missed the excitement and energy we had been exposed to while living in New York City. We felt that a country life would benefit our young children more than the street life of a large city. However, we realized in a short time how much we missed the "city energy."    Don't misunderstand this. We appreciate everything Eastern Pennsylvania has to offer and wouldn't have changed any decisions we made about where to raise our family. It's just that the city has so much more energy surrounding you in your day-to-day life.

Our lives were changed forever when we met Walt in the fall of 1997. He refreshed that creative energy we so missed from the days living in New York, the galleries, museums, Broadway shows and the music.

My older son and I are currently enrolled in classes with Walt. My son plays guitar and I attempt to play bass.  For me the lessons are recreational and a means to keep tabs on the progress of my son. My intention was more that of support than of being critical by constantly looking over his shoulder.  For him it's become serious with hopes of making music a career.  My younger son plays drums. I felt a new bond developing between my sons and me by this sharing of musical interests. Now there's always "a jam just waiting to happen." I believe its important to support the interests of my children. Joining them in the learning process, I place myself in a position of no more or less than their equal. Learning is simply a method regardless of progress.

Enough wisdom... I'd like to take this opportunity to comment briefly on what I think being a student of Walt is like.  Only a few times in our educational experiences are we lucky enough to run across an instructor like Walt. That's not to say he's for everyone, but if your a serious student and willing to buy into the program, you'll see results. For me it was simple at first. I wanted to develop a few skills so I could jam with my kids. Learn the scales, an arpeggio or two, or maybe a walking bass line to some pop tune. What I found was a growing interest in learning as much as I possibly could. This is difficult since I work a 12 hour day at an unrelated occupation. It's the energy that surrounds Walt that feeds me and pushes me to want to know and learn more.

Thanks Walt!

Tom
