I trained at the University of the West of England, Bristol gaining a BA(Hons.) degree in ceramics, 1993. Since leaving college my work has been focused on functional, thrown, slip decorated tableware.
I particularly enjoy the figurative properties of jugs and teapots. I throw in sections and rejoin at an angle to enhance their posture. So creating relaxed fat bellied jugs and rather perky teapots, all with a touch of humour.
Decoration comprises of coloured slips being poured freely over the surface and finally glazed with a rich blue earthenware glaze which enhances the tonal range of the slips beneath.
