Bead work, amulet bags and beaded jewelry. Illustrations of peyote stitch, two drop and weaving without a loom. Welcome to the Nefer Beads web site. Where you will see illustrations of beaded jewelry worked with Seed Beads, Delicas and other beads in several different amulet bags and beaded jewelry, in several weaves. Most of the patterns are my own however a couple of them are bead patterns from other beaders. Bead working in peyote stitch is my favorite, either two drop or single. Peyote bead work has been found in Egyptian beadwork. Several forms of beaded jewelry have been found in all ancient cultures not just the American Indian. Beads and beaded jewelry have for centuries been used for trade items. The Amulet Bags that you see today comes from America, they were used to hold special objects close to the wearers heart.

My name is Susan and this is a sampling of the bead work that I have done over the past several years. The files are quite large so it will take a few moments to load. I bead mostly for the pure pleasure of beading. It helps me to relax at the end of the day. I do however have some of my work in a couple of shops in Colorado and Texas. I also do special orders, if you are interested you can E-mail me farther down the page.

Let's get on to the bead work. The first image is of the Egyptian style necklace that I created .This necklace won First Place at the Texas State Fair in 1997. It was entered under Beaded Jewelry. The collar is copied from an ancient Egyptian collar I saw in a museum.

This Amulet Bag also won first place at the Texas State Fair in 1998. The design is one of my own using ancient Egyptian designs. The message on the neck strap reads"GIVEN LIFE FOR EVER AND AN ETERNITY". The bag was made using using Delica Beads, the fringe uses some 1920's antique beads and also attached is a gold scarab.
