If you're considering making your own web site, please visit Web Pages That Suck to find out what mistakes NOT to make. This is a very informative site, showing pages that suck, and explaining in detail just why they suck so you can avoid making the same mistakes. Plus, is's also loads of fun.
SimTel is a good page to download all sorts of stuff. This collection of shareware and freeware contains things from mundane file management utilities to fractal generators and icon authors. You're certain to find something useful here.
Ftp.cdrom.com contains lots and lots and LOTS and LOTS of things. Utilities, files, games... I won't even try to list what-all they have here. I hope you have a fast modem, because if you visit this place you'll probably spend a lot of time downloading. Warning: it's cryptic.
