Experience Policies

NERO Neridia works on a modified auto-maxout system for experience. In order to receive the auto-maxout a player must NPC a five-hour shift during the weekend. Further that five-hour shift must be prescheduled at the time of check-in. The staff of NERO Neridia feels that this will help relieve the common problem of shortage of NPCs that occurs at many events. There are five available shifts during a normal three day weekend. Start of game Friday to 1:00 AM. Saturday 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, 3:00 PM-9:00 PM with a dinner break, and 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The final shift is Sunday 10:00 AM till close of game. For the time the players are out of game NPCing the plot committee will supply a valid reason for the characters to be off board.  In addition, we will not run plot directed towards specific PCs while they are off-board during the time they are NPCing a shift.

Most of the time NPCing shifts will be spent playing monsters in the defined combat area but the staff realizes that having to play monsters straight for five hours is discouraging to most players. For this reason the plot committee will generate a suitable town NPC for each player which they will be able to roleplay during each event for part of their shift. The player will have input into the creation of this character and will be given information to distribute and topics to roleplay on while playing the town character. These characters will grow and evolve over time and will be played exclusively by the original PC. It is of course expected that the PC who is NPCing a town role as part of their shift will not spend inordinate amounts of time with a particular group, especially those they normally PC with.

If a player does not choose to take the NPC option,  they may maxout as normal using coin.

The staff of NERO Neridia wishes to encourage each player and NPC to remain IG at all times. To aid in this the following policy is being put into play. If a character while IG breaks game and begins to discuss out of game topics where it disturbs the flow of the game a staff member may issue them a warning. After three warnings, the player will be docked one quarter of their base blanket for each additional warning. The staff feels that the base blanket represents what is earned for playing the game and that a player who is constantly breaking game and disrupting other people's enjoyment is not earning that base blanket. If a player receives more than seven warnings at an event they will be called aside to discuss the problem and action will be taken from there.

This is not to say that no one can leave game or talk out of hearing about OOG topics or discuss going to the movies in the privacy of their own ward. This policy only applies to situations where the player is disrupting the game by their talk or actions in public areas.

Similarly NPCs are expected to stay IG at all times as well and will be issued white headbands for when they are OOG. They are expected to not discuss OOG issues in the hearing of the players. If an NPC receives more than three warnings they will lose one quarter of their maxout for the event and if they receive more than seven warnings will be called aside to discuss the problem and action will be taken from there.

The staff is holding themselves to the same restrictions as the players and NPCs.
