My own farewell ...
Well the fun has ended for me. I have no interest
in pursuing adding agendas or even notifying the Pine HIll public. Nope,
what you see is the last of the updates and agendas. I have a few other projects
that are far more rewarding than showing any interest in the local governing
body.
Oh you may from time to time see my own editorial
thoughts here on this page, but I can nearly assure you it will not concern
Pine Hill. Or if Pine Hill is included, it may be incidental.

A Nation In Mourning
On September 11, 2001, the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in
New York City, New York, USA were destroyed by terrorists. Within an hour,
in Washington, DC, the Pentagon was impacted by a jet, by the same group
of terrorists. In Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, the final jet that was aimed
to destroy the White House, crashed. All passengers in all four flights were
killed. Thousands are dead at the World Trade Center as the twin towers fell.
Hundreds were killed in Washington DC. I ask all Americans to give a moment
of silence, to mourn for our American brothers and sisters.
Wondering about charities you may be giving in the upcoming weeks?

Guaranteed Local Property Tax Relief
Its here everyone, the property tax relief the Borough Council applied for
a few months ago is here today. For those of you uninformed citizens, the
Borough of Pine Hill was about to increase our property taxes at 25
cents/$100 of assessed value. Such a huge local tax increase was not
seen save for 10 years ago. Of course, this time around no one came to hoot
and holler this major impact. Nope no one around to scream and yell about
the budget until they were red in the face. Not a peep.
Fortunately, the Pine Hill council applied for extraordinary aid from the
state. The record for our borough receiving extraordinary aid in the past
has been dismal. However, through clear and succinct reasoning, the financial
department and councilmatic leads were able to convince the state government
our plight, as well as the six other districts in Pine Hill. The Borough
received on the order of $438,000 in relief aid. With additional last
minute cost savings measures, this year's local purpose tax increase is on
the order of a modest 5 cents/$100.
At the last Pine Hill Borough Council meeting Mayor Gallagher had stated
not a single member of the governing body is to be blamed or praised. All
members of the governing body share the blame as well as the credit. I differ
with Mayor Gallagher's sentiment slightly, since I know there were two members
on the governing body had a little more anxiety to bear than the other members.
Council passed the amendment to the budget and the budget at the June 18,
2001 regular council meeting.
School Board Vs. Local Governing Body
Well it was an interesting evening on May 21, 2001 at the Pine Hill Council
Meeting. The mood of the meeting was contentious to say the least.
The students at Overbrook Regional High school summed it up as two
children fighting. Something parents and teachers would not let them
do. Why can't the school and the local council get together to settle
the matter, in public?
Late breaking word, is there may be a meeting in the next few days between
the Local Governing Body and the Board of Education. The real question
is will the public be invited? Or will there even be a meeting?
As for me I am going to give you my review of the Pine Hill Board of Education
meeting held on May 15, at the general purpose
room at the Glenn School. Also, my review of the Pine Hill Borough
Council Meeting, held on May 21, 2001. Finally
take a peek at what my view is the real issue
that should trouble ALL residents in Pine Hill.

The New Jersey Sunshine Law is still active, even in Pine Hill. Recently,
the Courier-Post has reported the recent decision by the Somerdale Municipal
Court to allow a private citizen, Wayne Tarus, to film the Pine Hill
Council's regularly scheduled Public Meetings. To

In accordance to a letter I received from David C. Patterson, Attorney
for Pine Hill Borough Municipal Utilities
Authority, I am removing the web page letter

the MUA connection fees to the new local middle school.
