NIKKEN SHU (Nichiren Shoshu Nikken School)
1. TIMELINE
1922 Nobuo Hikosaka was born (12/19).
1923 His mother registered the birth of Nobuo (on 1/12).
1928 60th HP Nikai Abe recognized Nobuo as his son.
1956 Nobuo Abe changed his name to Shin-no Abe.
1961 Shin-no Abe was appointed by 66th HP Nittatsu to the Nichiren Shoshu Study Division Chief.
1963 On the historical first Overseas Gojukai trip, Abe forgot the Gojukai Gohonzon in a men’s room in Hawaii (3/16). In Seattle, went out after Gojukai ceremony to an entertaining place, had a trouble with two prostitutes and caught by two patrolling polices (on the late evening of 3/19). He was saved by Hiroe Clow, an NSA leader. Since then, Nikken and Masako have sent expensive gifts every year to Clow to silence her.
Nikken became the resident priest of Heian-ji in Kyoto (4/5). Became famous for his womanizing activity.
1977 Became the resident priest of Josen-ji (the most prestigious, local temple in Japan) in Tokyo.
1979 66th HP Nittatsu died (7/22). Abe lied that he had received the succession ceremony from Nittatsu, and became 67th HP Nikken (8/6).
1980-81 Masatomo Yamazaki wrote several articles in tabloid journals that Nikken was not a legitimate successor, and that Nikken is a play-boy and a greedy man. Nikken called Yamazaki a liar.
1981 About 200 young active priests of Myokan-Kai (a group made of disciples of Nittatsu) were raged and protested against Nikken. 170 of them were subsequently excommunicated by Nikken. Those excommunicated priests formed “Shoshin-Kai.” and took a legal action against Nikken. (The court case is still going unsolved as of 1997.)
1983 Visited Ichijo-ji in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Had a crazy party with nude dancers in hotel.
1984 Since Abe family was a minority in Taisekiji, and since Myokan-Kai’s power was still strong after excommunication of 170 active young priests, Nikken needed a support from Soka Gakkai. He requested Ikeda to return to the position of So-Koto (the representative of entire believers). Ikeda accepted in order to protect the priesthood.
1986 Took a photo surrounded by several Geisha Girls at a Geisha Party (11/22).
1989 In Hakusan-ji, a Zen temple, established the grave for his family (7/17).
1990 Several priests had a secret meeting at Nishikata (Taisekiji’s Tokyo office) and planned “Operation C” to dismantle Soka Gakkai (7/16).
At a guidance meeting for instructor priests, Nikken appealed to refrain from luxurious life-style and to keep discipline (8/29). On the next day, Nikken secretly held a luxurious party at a super deluxe hotel in Izu Spa (8/30). Sept-Oct Nikken attended celebration for 700 anniversary of the founding of Taisekiji. Had a luxurious party (11/21)at the super luxurious hotel in Izu Spa after finishing Otaiya.
On 12/27, assembled a special Priesthood Council, and resolved to revise the By- law, which was made to limit the term of So-koto and Dai-koto (the next position to So-koto). With this revision, Ikeda and several Soka Gakkai leaders automatically lost their position. This decision was not sent to So-koto and Dai-koto, but announced through newspapers.
1991 Rev. Kido Fukuda, secretary of the Overseas Division of Taisekiji, sent a FAX to Ken Kuno, Asian Division Chief of Soka Gakkai, describing, “This is the “Operation C” and I am declaring war to SGI” (1/2). Fukuda was fired from the position and ordered a house confinement.
Nikken encouraged priests to recruit Gakkai members as Danto. Nikken told to Gen-ei Kudo and Seijun Ohashi that “C” in Operation C signified “Cut Ikeda” (3/5). Officially announced that the priesthood will form Danto organizations in foreign country (3/5). Announced that Tozan (pilgrimage) would be only allowed from July 1st to believers who have the letter of permission from their temples (3/18).
In June, Nikken Shu maneuvered to hold a fake board of director meeting of Ichijo-ji temple of NSTB (Nichiren Shoshu Temple of Brazil), nominated a new director from Nikken Shu, and fired the old director (SGI side). Original Board of directors (SGI side) sued Nikken side.
The tradition of Tozan which Toda started in 1950 ended (6/30). Vice-president of Tozan bus company committed suicide. None of priests attended his funeral. At a guidance meeting for instructors, Nikken scolded a priest who had complained about the difficulty of recruiting Gakkai members. He screamed that “Ippatsu Kamashiteyare!" (You should give a blow to their head!; 8/29).
In August, Nikken Shu purchased a four-storied building in Pusan City, Korea and remodeled to a temple. But they made a false application to the administration office that the building was a welfare facility for the aged people. Rev. Mohri announced at the opening that this was made possible by the mercy of HP Nikken.
Chugai Nippou scooped on 9/27 that Nikken had built the family grave yard in Hakusan-ji, a Zen temple. Nikken side declared that the grave yard is a public grave site. But it was quickly disclosed that it was the lie, and the grave yard indeed belonged to the Zen temple. Sent to Soka Gakkai the Instruction to dissolve the organization (11/7) Sent to Soka Gakkai the announcement of excommunication (11/28).
1992 The plan to build super luxurious Nikken’s retiring home (cost: 2 billion Yen) was leaked out (3/12). The cancellation of the plan was announced (3/13).
Series of temples and priests started to declare to leave Nichiren Shoshu. Rev. Takudo Ikeda sued Nikken for libel (5/1). Rev. Kokudo Sugano sued Nikken for the damage he had received (7/1).
Hiroe Clow accused Nikken for his misconduct on March 20’s Seattle incident with prostitute (7/21). Hiroe Clow sued Nikken for libel (9/17) because Nikken damaged her fame in reference to the Seattle incident. Nikken declared that he never went out of the hotel at night in Seattle.
In September, at the first trial of the San Paulo District Court, the judged declared that the action of Nikken side to nominate a new director was ineffective.
In October, the administration office of the Pusan City detected that Nikken Shu is using the building as a temple under the false application. The Korean Hokkeko was punished with compulsory fine. It was discovered that Rev. Mohri smuggled 10 million Yen for the purchase of the building. Believers who purchased grave yard in Taisekiji ground sued Nikken for the illegality of the grave yard (12/3). SGI leaders, Yahiro, Masaki and Hisano, sued Nikken for libel (12/19).
1992-93 A total of 278 cherry trees in Taisekiji were cut down.
1993 At the new year’s temple family Tozan, Nikken told that the Operation C did not exist (1/6). But it is a lie. Nikken had declared that the “Geisha picture” was a doctored photo synthesized from two pictures. Mrs. Masako Abe declared that HP does not have a Hakama (formal men’s costume) with a stripped pattern seen in the photo. Hossho Shiina testified that had taken that Geisha pictures on 11/22/86 and publicized several other pictures (2/22).
In August, Nikken Shu opened the office in Korea without receiving official approval from the Immigration Office. In Nikken Shu’s official publication in Japan, “Daibyappou,” the Foreign division Chief, Obayashi, announced the opening.
Yamazaki was released on parole (4/27) and lived in a Shoshin-kai temple. He became free on 10/27. Nikken apologized Yamazaki that he had once scolded him as liar.
In July, Nikken praised Sanenaga Hagiri of Mt. Minobu as a man of merit. (Note: Nikken’s mentality is very close to Minobu Nichirenshu.)
On 12/15, Nikken sued Soka Gakkai for libel on the Seattle Incident reporting.
1994 Yamazakai wrote Nikken 5 flattering letters.Yamazaki wrote that he has no doubt about the legitimacy of succession of the HP position. He wrote that since Nikken Shu became a small sect, it has to cooperate with other Nichiren Sects. He volunteered to be an envoy. Actually, Yamazaki started visiting temples of Minobu Nichirenshu, and emphasized that we are all disciples of Nichiren Daishonin. In November, priests of Minobu Nichirenshu visited Taisekiji.
In July, Mohri was punished with a fine of 7 million Won (about 840,000 Yen), and two Korean Hokkeko leader were also fined.
1995 In January, because of illegal propagation activity in Korea, 3 Nikken Shu priests, Tajima, Ishibashi and Sasaki, were fined in Korea. They were in violation of the Immigration Control Law. They were deported. In March, the office in Korea received the compulsory search because Nikken Shu violated the Immigration Control law. In Korea, this was reported through mass-media as a top news. An article reads: The office director has been ordered to propagate in Korea by Taisekiji. A National TV news televised the picture of HP Nikken.
In April, at the 2nd trial in San Paulo, the District court supported the judgment of the first trial. Nikken side appealed to Federal High Court In May, Nikken spoke in front of priests , “We can do anything as long as we are not hand-cuffed.” In June, HP of Minobu Nichirenshu visited Taisekiji and was allowed to see the Dai-Gohonzon. Yamazaki was also seen in Taisekiji on the same day.
In August, Hokkeko members of Daishuji (the resident priest is Shinsho Abe, Nikken’s son) visited Head Temple of Minobu Nichirenshu. The leader of the trip was Yanagizawa, the Chairman of Hokkeko Union.
In August, Mohri was punished from Japan side in violation of foreign trade control. He was fined for 200,000 Yen from Nagoya Summary court. In December, the director of the underground office in Korea was fined 3 million Won (about 410,000 Yen) from the Seoul District court for the violation of Immigration Control law. The sentence revealed that a total of 75 million Won (about 2.4 million Yen) were sent from Taisekiji in 32 installments.
Ryu Toshimitsu (ex-Tokyo Metropolitan congressman who left Soka Gakkai because of his womanizing activity) told Nikken that he could dismantle Soka Gakkai by collecting petition from Hokkeko members and submitting to the Tokyo Metropolitan Congress. Nikken paid Ryu 10 million Yen. Ryu brought the signatures to the Congress, but was simply rejected. (Nikken wanted to introduce the political power into the world of religion, similar to Ryokan in the Daishonin’s days.)
Nikken had declared many times that he never went out of hotel in Seattle in 1963. However, when the trial approached, Nikken changed the statement (9/29). He wrote in the deposition that he went out the hotel on that night, drank wine, took a walk and returned. The Seattle prostitute trial started at the Tokyo District court (10/2).
1996 Federal High Court in Sao Paulo rejected the appeal of Nikken side in reference to the legality of the nomination of the director of the Board of Directors (4/1). This was published in the Official Gazette of the Federal Government (4/12).
On 9/18, the first cross-examination of the ex-police officer, Mr. Sprinkle who caught Nikken on the late evening of 3/19/63, was held. At the second cross-examination (10/30), the ex-police officer, Mr. Sprinkle, testified, “I saw an oriental man with a bold head was quarreling with two prostitutes over the payment of their service. Since that man gave me a memo with the name and telephone number of Hiroe Clow, Icontacted her. Clow arrived with a car, and guaranteed me that this man was a high-ranking clergy, and that she would be responsible for the situation.” Another ex-police officer, Victor Mayhle, also submitted the sworn deposition which described the same observation.
1993-1996 It was disclosed that Masako Abe had bought a luxurious house (cost: 1.5 - 2 billion Yen) in Todoroki, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo around 1994 to make it the Taiseki-ji’s office in Tokyo. The Nishikata Office, which Soka Gakkai had donated, was sold. Because of careless handling of ashes of the deceased by the priests, over 70 temples (more than 10% of the entire 600 temples) were sued by the families over the lost ashes. During this 3 years period 15 temples were either found guilty (and have to pay compensation) or agreed to have reconciliation.
Grand Reception Hall, which was built by sincere donation of Soka Gakkai members, was dismatled. The new Grand Reception Hall, which Nikken is now building, has many features common to Heretical Buddhist temples in Kyoto and Nara. Dai-Nichiren (a priesthood magazine) reports: The entire image followed Daiho-onji (Shingon temple in Kyoto) and Saimyoji (T’ien-t’ai temple in Shiga). Inner space followed the design of Todaiji (Kegon sect in Nara) and Higashi Honganji (Pule-Land sect in Kyoto). The roof followed the design of Kyoto Gosho (Imperial Palace in Kyoto), Taisanji (T’ien-t’ai sect in Hyogo) and Saimyoji and Onjoji (both T’ien-t’ai temple in Shiga). The construction of the pillar follwed the design of Toshotaiji (Ritsu sect in Nara).
1997 Nichiren Shoshu attorneys requested Tokyo district court to conclude the examinatin of the Seattle case (1/7), but it was rejected.
It was disclosed that Masako had bought another luxurious house in Shoto, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo (1.5 billion Yen). This is in the midst of the most expensive houses lived by CEO’s and entertainers. The location of the house is in the most expensive place among them. Masako already paid 100,000,000 Yen to remodel the garden. Nikken appeared in Tokyo District court for cross examination on Seattle prostitute incidnt (12/22).
1998 Nikken again appeared in Tokyo District court (2/2).
On (4/5), Nikken has transferred the Dai-Gohonzon
from Shohondo to Homotsukan (old Hoanden where the Dai-Gohonzon was used
to be protected).
Starting from May 1998, Nikken will destroy Shohondo (High Sanctuary) with the budget of $35 million spending for two years. Shohondo was completed in 1972 by the sincere donation of $100 million from 8 million Soka Gakkai members all over the world. On that occasion, Nikken praised the effort of Soka Gakkai, and supported the construction 100%. Now, Nikken hates whatever 66th High Priest Nittatsu and Soka Gakkai have contributed to Nichiren Shoshu. This is nothing but the "Man's Jealousy" of mentally disrupted High Priest Nikken. With this demolition, the destruction of 700 years history of Nichiren Shoshu by just a "One Crazy Man" will be completed.
On (5/18), Nikken has to appear
in Tokyo District court again. This last court appearance will be the
beginning of the last chapter of 67th High Priest Nikken.
2. DOCTRINES OF NIKKEN SHU
(1) Nikken is the “Priest Treasure” in the Three Treasures (Buddha, Law and Priest). He is the modern Daishonin, and is identical with the Dai-Gohonzon
(2) Gosho contains a partial teaching, and the rest is owned by High Priest.
(3) Slander against the Daishonin teachings is not important, because Nikken Built the family grave in a Zen temple, Sent envoy to Minobu Nichirenshu, and Allowed HP of Minobu Nichirenshu to see the Dai-Gohonzon.
(4) The deceased cannot attain enlightenment unless a priest conduct the funeral ceremony
(5) Nikken said “Only Buddha knows, and believers cannot understand”, “Laymen cannot attain enlightenment”and “Buddhism is not compatible with Democracy.”
(Note) The special funeral Gohonzon which Nichiren Shoshu used was actually the “counterfeit.” There were two symbols in the funeral Gohonzon, namely, “Jyu-O” and “Enma Dai-O”. But these names were incorporated based upon folk religions, and were not found in none of the Daishonin’s Gohonzon.
3. SHAMELESS BEHAVIORS
(1) Woomanizer
(2) Intriguing liar
(3) Nikken said, “ We can do anything as long as we not hand-cuffed.“ He violated national and international laws in Korea, Brazil, and Japan.
(4) He has abnormally strong jealousy against President Ikeda and 66th HP Nittatsu. He has: Destroyed Taikei-jyo Destroyed Grand Reception Hall Cut down cherry trees
(5) Love Geisha party
(6) He frequently holds luxurious parties with family members.
(7) He is an unprecedented schemer.
(8) He has an extreme hot temper; He hits and kicks acolytes and priests.
(9) His wife, Masako Abe, is the ”Secret” High Priest who has as much power as Nikken. She spends 200,000,000 Yen for her own clothings a year and purchases luxruious houses for retirement..
(10) Nepotism and bribery: The promotion of a priest is dependent on offering to HP; Only the priests whose wives are close to Masako can be promoted.
4. WHY DID NIKKEN’S SECRET INFORMATION ALWAYS LEAK OUT?
So far, numerous secret informaiton and shameless behaviors of Nikken have leaked out from Taisekiji. Why? At least there can be two reasons: First, high-ranking priests who are very, very close to Nikken do not approve his shameless behaviors. So, they leak these information to outside. Second, high-ranking priests, who would be selected to the next HP, are leaking out these information to overthrow Nikken from his position.
