Building Suite Fourteen
Building Nils Andersson's Int'l Offshore - 14 SUITE FOURTEEN
SMALL BOAT BIG THRILL
The plans package comes with computer generated
offsets and coordinates, no lofting is necessary. The hull panels are composite,
epoxy, 3 mm plywood, Divinycell, or equal polyester foam, coated with 5oz. Kevlar
cloth and 4oz. fiberglass cloth. The plywood and foam sheet materials are laminated
flat, using epoxy. The panels are then stitched together, using nylon cable ties.
The stitches are pulled from the outside and the inside, plywood joints, are filleted
and fiberglass taped. The stitches are then cut on the outside. The hull is then
coated with the Kevlar and fiberglass, laid up in one single phase (that one is exhausting).
The same coating procedures are repeated on the deck( not as exhausting).
