MIRZA ASADULLAH KHAN GALIB

Undoubtedly the heavy-weight of Urdu poetry who ruled and continues to rule the hearts of connoiseurs of Urdu literature.
At times quite difficult to decipher, his poetry has a depth that remains a benchmark in this beautiful language of ours. Although, surprisingly Galib thought that his urdu verses lack the colourfulness of his persian poetry.

I think it was his archrival Mirza Zauq, himself one of the classic masters, who made the following comment about Galib.

Dozens of his gazals have been transliterated on the internet and are available on various sites on Urdu poetry.
