INSHA-ALLAH KHAN INSHA
Insha-Allah Khan Insha was a man of many talents, poetry being the
one by which he is still remembered today. Quite a temperamental character
he was known for his witty sense and spontaneity in the 18th century
India where poetic rivalry often knew no bounds. Insha was at the fore
front of many such encounters in poetic meetings with his extempore parodies
of his contemporaries who also responded likewise. Some of the poetry of
that period at times crosses the limits of politeness judging by Maulana
Mohammed Hussain Azad's accounts in his "Aab-e-Hayat".
