A contemporary and the arch rival of Galib, Zauq perhaps has not received the attention that he deserves. While his control over the nuances of language and the complexities of various forms of Urdu poetry remains undoubted, his poetry does not quite reach the same level of intellectuality as that of his more illustrious contemporary.
