Dear Race and Late Model
Enthusiast:The growth of stock car racing throughout the United States and our
geographic area has been nothing less than phenomenal. With this growth comes new and
exciting opportunities for race tracks, businesses and interested individuals to become
actively involved in and with the Northern Late Model Racing Association. The NLRA
is currently making plans for another great season of dirt Late Model stock car racing.
What is the NLRA?
The NLRA is a group of professional Late
Model drivers and owners who, in their mission statement, are: "Organized and
Established for the Betterment and Advancement of Late Model and All Racing..." The NLRA was founded by Late Model drivers in
Northwest Minnesota, Northeast North Dakota and Southern Manitoba who are actively seeking
tracks that would like to host the Late Model class of cars for special or weekly events;
secure appropriate purses for their drivers/owners and develop a competitive point fund to
rewarding those who join and participate with the NLRA.
The NLRA is an organization who cares about
making the sport of auto racing stronger for the many racers, fans, tracks and businesses
now and in the years to come.
Geographic Areas of Exposure
Since its very beginning, the NLRA has
worked to continue competitive Late Model racing in Grand Forks, North Dakota, as well as
add more nights of racing for the Late Models at tracks willing to host this class of car.
With local racing shows in Grand Forks as a base for the 1999 season, the NLRA has also established a "Tour" of
Late Model races. Drivers throughout the northern tier of states and provinces that do not
normally compete at Grand Forks on a regular basis have shown interest in and
"Toured" with the NLRA in seasons
past. Additional tracks in Minnesota and North Dakota (besides Grand Forks) have been
contacted for an even broader "Tour" event schedule in the future. The NLRA
offers 4 competitive purse options for tracks and is more than willing to work on a
personal basis with those tracks wanting to host a NLRA
"Tour" event. In 1998, the initial season of racing for NLRA,
the members of NLRA purposely limited the
number of "Tour" races to make sure that he NLRA
shows were quality events and that we did not get in "over our heads" in trying
to operate our own Late Model teams as well as an Association sanctioning additional
shows. These track and race negotiations are continuing and will produce an excellent NLRA home and "Tour" schedule in the
future!
The Future is NOW
We welcome each and every opportunity to work with people such as you who have an
interest in hosting or working with the NLRA!
We look forward to being a part of the auto racing future in your community in the future.
