Musician/Composer
John Nolan was the first American-born musician ever to win the Senior All-Ireland Championship on the button accordion--for both the two-row and three-row button boxes. He has several recordings to his credit, most recently with the New York band Morning Star. John also composes great tunes--you'll see a few notes of "The Boogie Reel" at the bottom of each page in this website.
Teacher/Coach
John Nolan is dedicated to passing on the tradition of Irish music by nurturing new musicians. John teaches both the two row (specializing in the B/C system) and the three row button accordion. He works with other teachers in the Rockland County (NY) Traditional Music Society, providing young musicians with opportunities to play in student sessions, competitions, and performances.
Designer/Technician
John Nolan has been instrumental in the production and maintenance of quality instruments. His "Fix-It Shop" does work of the highest caliber in tuning, adjusting, and repairing button accordions. John was also instrumental in the design of the new Boxeen accordion.
