For the past 6 years, Leonardo and Maria Campanile have coordinated the successful annual pageant: "Miss Puglia USATM" that is staged in NYC.  This event, which draws over a thousand people, has been covered on TV and radio in New York as well as in newspapers and (of course) in L'IDEA itself, where the newly crowned title-holder dominates the Spring issue's front cover.

"Miss Puglia USA" is an established, annual NYC pageant.
Nancy Bozzi, Miss Puglia 1997 On March 29, 1998, vivacious, 19-year-old Donna Chinaglia, Reginetta Pugliese d'America, was crowned by 1997's out-going "Miss Puglia USA," tall, regal Nancy Bozzi of Chicago, Illinois.  Miss Chinaglia, a co-ed at St. John's University [Staten Island campus] is a business administration major and she also works in her family's restaurant; an accomplished pianist, she is fluently bi-lingual.

Exceptionally beautiful Chiara Calisi, a 22-year-old dancer, was 2nd place winner; willowy redhead Lucrezia DePinto came in third.
