Non-Stop New York:
Salutes the Patron Saint of Naples

San Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, has 2 feast days
San Gennaro's Bloodties: A Rondeau

I've seen his martyred blood: it liquefies,
Forecasting Naples' welfare patronized.
Are miracles the way he earns his keep?
His doubled feast flaps complicated sleep.
Vesuvio, earthquakes, wars: dead here uprise.

It doesn't hurt: a church commercialized
By active saints' predictions certified.
Did sleight-of-hand manipulate faith's leap?
I've seen his martyred blood
!

But what about that blind child's brand-new eyes?
The crippled walking? Senile drones turned wise?
Perhaps we peeked where commonsense can't reach,
Where music's dazed, unchained. Views change -- upsweep.
Away from the abyss, all height's revised.
I've seen his martyred blood.

San Gennaro

San Gennaro, patron saint of Naples [decapitated for his faith near Pozzuoli September 19, 305] has two feast days: the first Saturday in May and September 19.

Legend: if 2 vials of Gennaro's blood liquefy on feast days, Neapolitans will have good luck.
