Hi! I'm Karen Lively and I started No Place Like Home: Pet and Home Sitting Services because I love animals and I know how important and special they are to their owners. I know that many people may need some reliable and professional back-up assistance in providing adequate care for their most faithful companions when they are ill or when have to be away from their home, and I know how important it is for their animal companions to remain in their own home environments.

Currently, I share my home with my three dogs, Heidi, Ernie (pictured with me on the right), and Miet - and usually a foster Border Collie or Labrador Retriever rescue! I have always enjoyed pets, and I am a member (and past President) of the Oak Ridge Humane Society and a volunteer for East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue, Labrador Retriever Rescue of East Tennessee, and Breed Rescue Alliance of Tennessee.

Your pet receives personal, individualized attention and care.
Pet stays on his/her regular daily routine.
Your pet enjoys the same familiar surroundings even though you are away and experiences less stress.
Your pet isn't exposed to other animals with sickness or diseases.
You don't have to worry about transporting your pet.
Home security. Your home looks lived in, and we arrive in unmarked vehicles and wear everyday attire.
You don't have to impose on friends and family to look after your pet and home.
And last, but certainly not least, you'll have peace of mind!

PET AND HOME SERVICES

Basic Local Service (based on 30 - 40 minute visit):
$12 per day (two visits per day: $22; three visits per day: $30)

* In home visit with pet and owner prior to contracted service. ($5)
* One visit per day for one to two dogs and/or cats. Add $1 per visit for each additional pet over two. However, small birds and some small animals (such as hamsters, rabbits, and fish) will often be included at no extra cost.
* Pets will receive fresh water, food, and medication (if necessary) provided by owner.
* Cleaning of litter box and/or waste removal from kennel or lawn.
* Pets will receive brushing, playtime, and walks if needed.
* We will arrange for emergency care, if necessary.
* Security checks: turning on and off lights/TV and opening and closing drapes.
* We will bring in your mail and newspapers, care for plants, set trash out.
* We will refill your outdoor bird feeders.

Visits over 40 minutes: $5 per each additional 30 minutes.

Key return fee (if additional visit is necessary upon your return to return your key): $5.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Dog Walking: Mid-day walks to reinforce crate training or to help your pet get more exercise and be healthier. $11, based on a 20-minute walk.

In-Home Care During Convalescence: Have you or your pet recently had surgery? Are you ill or are you recuperating from an injury or sickness? These situations can make it difficult for you to take proper care of your pet. We will come to your home and take care of your pet's needs.

Pet Taxi: We will transport you and your animal with door-to-door convenience. Do you and your pet need a ride to or from the airport? the groomer? the vet? the kennel? obedience school?

E-mail updates: We will provide you with a daily email update regarding your pet's disposition and activities while you are away.
