DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
(December 14, 2002) - NASCAR has announced the 2003
Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series schedule, a 14-race
campaign that includes an August road course event in
Kent, Wash. The race for the championship begins March 29
at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., the first of
three visits to this track in 2003. The May 10 event at Evergreen will be run on the
tracks' infield 3/8-mile instead of the larger .646-mile
oval that is normally used for Raybestos Brakes Northwest
Series events. On August 24, drivers will compete on the
two-mile road course at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Wash.,
the first time the series has visited a road course since
2001. "This is absolutely one of the best schedules the
Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series has offered," said
Chris Boals, NASCAR's director of regional touring.
"The return of road course racing adds a fun and
challenging element to schedule. With the level of talent
in this series right now, the 2003 championship will be
one of the toughest ever, and this mix of tracks provides
a great playing field to watch it unfold." The Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series is led by
two-time defending champion Kevin Hamlin, of Snohomish,
Wash. Other 2003 championship contenders include Garrett
Evans, Gary Lewis, Pete Harding and Chris Hart. 2003 RAYBESTOS BRAKES NORTHWEST SERIES SCHEDULE
