Premiere of Film, " We Served with Pride: the Chinese American Experience in World War II"

· The film provides a powerful, emotional, and first hand look into the lives of Chinese-American veterans who participated in major battles overseas and services in the homeland.
· WWII was an historic turning point for the Chinese in America, who were allowed to become U.S. citizens.

AsianFest 2001 -Lights of Asia
· Hosted by the Korean-American Association
· Co-sponsored by Chinese-American, Filipino-American, Indian-American, Pakistani-American, Thai-American, and Vietnamese-American organizations.
· Ethnic performances, Asian arts and crafts exhibitions and taste of Asian ethnic foods.

Direction to Newport News Park from the South Side- Take I-64 West all the way to the Fort Eustis Blvd exit that is the exit following the Jefferson Ave exit. Take the first exit and go straight towards the traffic light and make a left turn to get on the Jefferson Ave West. The main entrance of the Newport News Park is about a quarter mile down on the right side. AsianFest is to be held at the first large picnic area on right, about 100 yards from the entrance.

Wednesday, May 30, 2001, 3:30 - 7:30pm at Chinese Community Center 722 New Town Road, Virginia Beach, VA

· Blood Donation Drive for local hospitals and National Bone Marrow Registration.
· Hosted by Eastern Virginia Chapter of the Organization of Chinese-Americans, Inc. (OCA/EVC) and the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads (CCA/HR).
· Endorsed by APAHO with support from all participating ethnic groups.
· Refreshment and Drinks will be served;
· Door Prizes including a $100 gift certificate from a Health Food Store, Free T-Shirt.
