“Welcome To The 21st Century Margarita’s Style” Event

By Jackie Rios
On Sunday November 14th Margarita’s had one of her famous big tent events. This year’s event was called, ”Welcome To The 21st Century Margarita’s Style.” Lori Jenschke, Enesco’s Field Marketing Manager, came from Jacksonville to show us the new Precious Moments introductions. Throughout the day we had the opportunity to play different games including Take A Trip To Sugartown, Let’s Make A Deal, Color Lottery and the always popular Margarita’s Bingo, all with fabulous prizes for the winners. Annie Jo gave a presentation about the club and it’s activities. There was also a coloring contest for the children.
For the event, Margarita was able to offer a great deal. For just $21.00 you could purchase the limited edition of the Precious Moments figurine “Who Is Going To Fill Your Shoes?” plus a second piece, either the suspended figurine “Smile God Loves You”, which is one of the original 21, or the suspended figurine “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.” With such a great offer it was no surprise that a long line formed early in the morning even though registration did not start till noon. When you registered you received a goody bag with a Precious Moments mug, a Tender Tails “Rosie” and a bingo card. The goody bags for children had candy and the multicolored Tender Tails “Turtle.”
Our club had various activities going on as fundraisers to benefit the US Marines’ Toys For Tots drive. We had a big table to sell hot dogs, sodas and bake goods. Collectors were asked to bring new unwrapped toys. Margarita donated the lighted piece “Jesus Is My Lighthouse” to be raffled as a thank you for the toys that were donated. For a $3.00 donation, the opportunity was extended to those who forgot to bring toys. Justin Morales was the winner of the raffle. The club also conducted a raffle of the Chapel’s 10th Anniversary Exclusives. The winner not only received the “10th Anniversary” chapel figurine and the Licensee Show medallion, which were signed by Sam Butcher, but also a T-shirt, an ornament and a bag from the Licensee Show. The big winner was Jody Bales.
Margarita awarded green bears for every $25.00 purchase that could be redeemed for Precious Moment items. There was also a final drawing with many prizes. We had the privilege of the company of Corporal Jefferson Valerio from the Marines. At the end of the event we presented him with all the toys donated plus a check from Oceans of Love from Miami in the amount of $1000.00 dollars for the toy drive.
The weather was great and we all had a lot of fun and were able to help a great cause. We would like to thank the West Bird Publix for their donation of the hot dogs, buns and sodas. Thanks go out to all the club members that donated baked goods and toys, and to club members for all their hard work, without you it would not have been such a success. We love you, keep making this the best club there can be. Thank you Margarita for your support and for the great time we all had.
