The Occoquan Boat Club Sculling Camps
Held at Sandy Run Regional Park

Camp Dates:

NOTE: All Dates are Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm

Session 1: July 8th to July 12th
Session 2: July 15th to July 19th
Session 3: July 22nd to July 26th

The OBC Sculling Camp is intended for those with some sweep experience(1-2 years) and would like to develop some small racing boat skills. Campers will have the opportunity to learn to handle a racing single and scull in a double/quad. Campers will become members of OBC for the duration of the camp and will be using part of OBC's extensive fleet.

The camp is open to males and females between the ages of 14 and 60. The camp will be coached by Bob Spousta; Head Coach of the George Mason Crew Club, and member of Occoquan and Potomac Boat Clubs. Bob has been coaching and sculling for nearly thirty years and will be assisted by various guest scullers depending on the number of participants.

This camp is intended for the beginning sculler who would benefit from a solid introduction to sculling from an experienced coach. The primary focus will be rowing on the water with time take to watch videos, discuss training strategies, and strength/fitness training.

Typical Training Session would include:

9:00-9:30am             Group Discussion
             9:30-11:00am           On the water with 1x/2x/4x
                                                 11:00-12:20am               Lunch Break/Discuss morning row/Review videos
           12:30-2:20pm           On the water with 1x/2x/4x

                            2:20pm-3:00pm             Group discussion of days activities

Water and drinks will be provided for all campers along with an OBC sculling camp shirt. Campers should bring their own water bottles and lunch each day. A cooler will be provided to store lunches.
