21/6/99. Five? young sparrowhawks hatched.  They are shown here at two days old with their mother. 23/6/99.  The adult male (right) makes a rare and very fleeting visit to the nest. He will do all the hunting during the first few weeks.

Female standing on the far side of the nest. At the time of the picture the sky was overcast and sound of thunder rumbling in the distance.

28/6/99. Six chicks are now visible. Three in the back row, then two and one sat in the front. 30/6/99. Female preparing to leave the nest. Five of the chicks are growing well. The smallest is now less than half the size of the larger chicks. 3/7/99. The last picture showing the sixth and smallest chick which is visible on the left of the nest and is about a third of the size of its siblings.
