MGM CS 8108, April 1969 Side 1: 2YMG 291 - 1G UK original pressing. Estimates of the number of copies pressed are around the 600 mark (250 to 300 with the 1-G matrix and then 250-300 with the 1-R matrix numbers). This UK first press was unique, containing a different mix to that which was issued in other countries, as well as a different back cover - printed by Garrod & Lofthouse - with Lou Reed photograph cut in half horizontally rather than vertically. These quirks were both corrected for later pressings. 50% blue/50% gold MGM label. It offers Val Valentin's mix with alternate take of Some Kinda Love. Valentin's discarded mix was mistakenly pressed into action, presumably as the result of MGM in the USA supplying the wrong masters. |

Atlantic 2400 111, March 1971 Side 1: 2400111 A//1 Original UK edition manufactured by Polydor Records under licence from Atlantic. Front cover with ATLANTIC SUPER logo on top left. Red/white/mauve Atlantic label. I've seen one copy on eBay with a 'blue' fronted cover (earliest cover? 'withdrawn' cover? proof sleeve?). It still has a white background but the 'subway' picture on the cover front is completely blue instead of being full color. This sleeve has not faded and this color is clearly from manufacture. |
