Also note the reserved frequencies for glider pilots - 80 to 85 INCLUSIVE. These are NOT to be used at the Crompton Moor site at all. Most important to observe these frequencies !!!

CROMPTON MOOR.

Flying is from :-
9.00am. to 9.00pm. Monday to Saturday and
12.00pm. to 9.00pm. on Sunday.

The actual site is off Rochdale Rd., Denshaw on the A640. See the map below. As you come up the road from the Denshaw end, you will see the first gated road about 30 yards from the brow of the hill on the left. NOTE :- the gate opens OUTWARDS towards you, so leave plenty of room at the front of your car. There are several locks on the chain for different groups of people and ours is the same lock as we had at Bishop's Park. We have the key for the second gate now, so all should be well. This second gate also opens OUTWARDS, so again leave room when entering. The path to the field is not the best but is much better than many we have had to use in the past. Straddle the 'grooves' in the path and all will be OK. Michael got up there with his low'ish' profile Clio and he had no problems.

These shots of the Bishop's Park field were taken over the May Bank Holiday week-end 2002 where the wind was a bit of a problem, but not to our intrepid flyers ! The sunshine more than made up for that. What a glorious site it is high on the Moors above Oldham. I think Crompton Moor will give us the same challenges as here.
