IV. BARCODING VENDORS AND SUPPLIES
| What vendors have you worked with and which of them would you recommend? Have you needed ongoing support from them and has it been forthcoming? Can you supply contact information for these vendors?
| | Sam |   |
| Bob | We are currently getting everything we need from Worth Data in Santa Cruz, California. We have used them for the past two years and their service has been terrific. |
| Johanna | Contact Kevin Holmboe IBT 301-596-7500- great guy, reliable and knowledgeable. |
| Susan | I have worked with multiple vendors and all were very supportive. I can send you contact information at request. |
| Kate | We are using this list of vendors prepared by Michael
Skadowski at NMAI in Suitland, MD:
Printers: Sato (satoamerica.com)
Scanners: Symbol (symbol.com)
Printer ribbons/labels: Action Packaging, Ellington, CT
(860-872-6311) |
| What labeling supplies are appropriate?
| |
Sam | Labels specific to printer |
| Bob | We are using a variety of labels, from plain paper to pressure sensitive labels (laser) from Avery and from University Products Inc. |
| Johanna | Again- basic museum practice- if you opt for adhesive labels then be sure
to affix them onto an acid free stock-or opt for mylar or other acid free or
neutral laminates as the label itself. |
| Susan | Anything that you use to label the objects with currently using appropriate curation standards, like string and paper, or foil back labels. |
| Kate | Label stock, and assorted archival supplies for attaching them
to a wide variety of objects. |
