PowerBuilder Report as an E-mail Message

To Attach PowerBuilder Report as an E-mail Message:

  1. Select Library menu
  2. Select Create [library icon with the yellow flash in the far left end of the blue bar] to create a library table to hold temporarily the attachment to be created (if one does not already exist).
  3. At "Filename" enter a name for a temporary file (e.g. Questor E-Mail).
  4. Click on Save.
  5. At Properties box, select OK (do not add any comments or any other information); the new library should appear in the library list under existing "Reports" library
  6. Right Click on new library to check that information is correct.
  7. Return to library where existing report resides (e.g. reports_shared.pbl) and right click on the report to be copied for attachment to the email.
  8. Click Copy.
  9. At "Select Library" box, enter the filename of the new library (e.g. Questor E-Mail)
  10. Click Open.
  11. Return to new library under "Reports" library and double click to open it. The copied report should be attached, should be listed, and can now be attached to an e-mail.
  12. Once the report has been sent, the temporary copy can be deleted from the new library (be sure not to delete it from its home library.
The e-mail recipient should save the attachment as Report_filename.pbl (eg. Report_Transfer) to the local hard drive where their other pbls are stored (probably C:\ProgramFiles\Questor\Argus\). To retrieve the report in Argus, the recipient must have PowerBuilder installed. The recipient will then:
  1. Open Argus
  2. Click on the File Menu
  3. Select Options
  4. Select Reports
  5. In the Browse window, on Private Reports to select the new report.
  6. To run the report, Click on the Wizards menu, Generate a report, and proceed as directed by the dialog boxes.
