My National Kite Month Project – Fly 50

The Goal:  To have our kite travel and fly to all 50 states in the USA and return home.  We will kick off the event at my son's kindergarten class.  We will track the progress of the kite via maps at the school and a web site.  We hope to help introduce kite flyers across the country to each other and hopefully expose some people to the sport of kite flying.

Our Sponsors:

We are proud to have this event sponsored by these Companies, Organizations and Individuals.  Please thank them for their support and let them help you fly.

Prism Kites is providing a custom I2K as our Fly 50 kite.  Never had a chance to fly an Illy?  Well, represent your state and fly this special edition Illusion.  Prism is also providing the perfect beginner kite for our first time flyers, Legacy.

Thanks to Dan at Gone with the Wind for helping out on this one.  Make sure you vist Dan's new web site and tell him thanks for his support.

Update Notes:
5/22/01

Well we got off to a bit of a slow start but the kites are moving along now.  We have flown in MS, RI, MD and on the way to NJ.

New  job has slowed the updates to the site.  Hope to get some time in soon.  The kites have a few more stops on the East Coast then we might move them out West for some air time.

Please email me to register to be a flyer. Looking for flyers with some experience.  This doesn't mean advanced flyers, just so you have the basic skills to launch, fly and land a dual line sport kite.  We will also include a sturdy beginner kite with the package.  I would like each state event to include a beginner putting up his first kite.  You will have the following responsibilities:  Fly the kite ASAP after receiving it, get some people out to see you fly, train a beginner, repair any damage that I hope doesn't happen, fill out the log and email me a report on your fly (pictures are a great plus) and repack the kite and pay the freight to forward on to its next event.  This should cost you about $15 to participate.  We may be able to do more than one person per state so don't hesitate to send a request.
